Some of those options, maybe. Not many people go to church around here unless you're catholic, then it's more of a huge cult-following to me. I think it would be so incredibly strange to meet someone at a family gathering, seeing how I only want to see the majority of my family once a year.
I don't know of any "dances" unless you speak of clubs or high school.

I meant that's how people USED to meet.
A lot of those things slowly went away once our society become more consumerist and technology just adds to that.

I was applying some of those events to today, and some I was drawing blanks to, and some I didn't want to experience
