I normally find the grammar and vocabulary police on these boards to be obnoxious. But seriously. Another recent thread asked if women like a dominate man. You folks looking for dates. Are you this careless on your dating profiles? Communications with prospective partners? Whether or not a woman wants a dominANT man, she probably wants an intelligent man. Dominate is a verb. Dominant is an adjective describing the noun man.

In the age of digital dating, how hard do people try not to sound half intelligent? Would you date someone who could not tell the difference between a verb and an adjective?

Even an ESL guy like me knows it should be "dominating man".

But I guess if the guy is really dominating, the girls wont give a hoot about his grammar skills. The language of love knows no grammar stuff.

I say let the people who don't know any better date each other. I wouldn't necessarily assume the person is a moron, but our values would be clearly be mismatched. I wouldn't want to be with someone who thought I was showing off or snobby because of the way I speak and write, either.

I guess you never met me.

Nothing screams trash like a woman who can't speak English properly.

it makes me cringe to see "your" mixed up with "you're" but at the same time one of my best relationships was with a guy who often did this so i try to look beyond that :/

I think "dominate" vs. "dominant" in that instance was probably just a spelling mistake. I could probably forgive that one.

What I cannot forgive is when guys online send me messages saying "hi u doin." It makes absolutely no sense and they don't even realize it!
