Off topic: Am I alone in thinking that anyone spelling "women" as "womyn" is a moron?
I believe it's meant to remove the male root of the word, to separate women as an independent group rather than some sort of subset of men. I've never really been one for symbolic gestures such as that, but I understand their importance to others.
