Please define confidence, as it relates to male/female dynamics. Ladies, if you find a confident man attractive, what traits must he posess, in order for you to think he is truly self-confident.
To me, confidence is simply ability to deal with the unknown. Unknown is what future holds and every person has a task of being able to handle it one way or another. Soe are paralyzed by it and others thrive on it. Short and sweet.

Self-confidence.
A manner marked by easy coolness and freedom from uncertainty, diffidence, or embarrassment. Confidence stresses faith in oneself and one's powers without any suggestion of conceit or arrogance.

The key, at least for me, is that it has to be genuine. Maybe some people can fake it (i.e. the "PUA" types, though I question how many of them are actually successful), but I can't. If I feel comfortable in my own skin and good about my life, women tend to be much more attracted to me than if I don't. If I don't have those things, my efforts are much better spent fixing whatever is wrong in my life than putting on a false front in an attempt to attract women.
