I don't really expect my girlfriend to do anything for me. She's more traditional, and I kind of think she would expect me to take the lead on Valentine's day. I don't know though. I will be pleasantly surprised if she does anything.

Traditional means doing nothing or just waiting for you to do something?

No I mean I think she would expect me to make the plans for the evening. Which I already did. I have reservations. She might surprise with a card or something; I don't know it's our first Valentine's together.
I am so surprised by this thread. I've been married almost 30 years but we still always get each other a card usually some candy and have a "special' night together. It's just a good time to show each other appreciation.
I'm just curious..I see it as more of a woman's holiday where the man gets the chance to be super romantic ..but I've never thought about what it is us women do for men besides well, the obvious.
Spoil him just like he does me. I always make it a surprise. I cook for him all the time anyway. But on Valentines day I def go out of my way to cook a very difficult but yummy dish at least once that day. May take him to a really expensive restaurant, surprise him with a gift, pretty much the same things that I expect to have done for me, I do for him. The only difference is that he makes a lot more money than me so the gifts I receive are usually a little more expensive, but I do make decent money and give him really nice gifts too. Last Valentines, I took my sweetheart to this really nice expensive restaurant. Our bill was about $320. That was def a gift to him, because we typically spend no more than half that amount when we have our big dinner dates. His belly was full, the meal was delicious, and the experience was fantastic.
Have no idea what I will do for him this year, but thanks for the reminder!!
