I go out all the time with guy friends. Currently, I have a male roommate, and we hang out all the time. But here's the thing, when I'm with the guy I'm dating, the two of us are usually touching each other in some way, whether it's holding hands or stroking the back of the other's neck, whatever. When I'm out with my roommate, we're not touching. We're laughing and talking, but we're not gazing into each other's eyes. My body language towards my romantic interests is totally different than towards my male buddies.
If you're curious about a couple and you can't tell, you can start the conversation maybe with "how long have you two been together?" or something. I dunno.
