Yeah.

Anyways, time for me to go play another mission on Hitman in a bit, since I'm so incapable of gettin' any decent woman these days.
I'm going to play flick kick on my phone before I go to bed. Since I have no other important thing to do........except work tomorrow.

She works out 5x a week, and incessantly reads. Likes to travel too. She says it's her chance to relax and 'turn off her brain'

Her IQ is in the 140's...

I'd say she is fine.

And my point is, that the 'image' is BS.

This right here still very vague. If they do it to late at night but are still going work which means they are supporting themselves. Also are they playing alone, are they playing with a roommate, girlfriend, on skpe chatting while playing a game.

I don't see the point in mocking that small minority of gamers and putting it on all gamers.

Hell, I'm not saying that one hour of Modern Warfare is going to turn you into a gibbering idiot. What I am saying, however, is that video games do have a unique ability to really suck you into an alternative reality that can keep you entertained for hour after hour if you're not careful. Be honest. Are there some times when you had to throw down the controls and say, "Jesus on a minibike. If I don't stop playing right now I'm going to be doing this all day?" I think video games are more capable of creating this kind of behavior than other hobbies. Hey, I love to ride bikes. But I have to stop after three hours or my youknowwhats get numb. That capacity doesn't exist in video games. There's the difference.
Going into an imaginary reality also happens while reading books, too.

If you don't like games, you don't have to play them. If someone loves playing games for fun from time to time, that's their business. There are a lot worse things in this world than that.

This is quite true.

In fact, I've been so "into" a book I've been reading that I didn't hear people calling my name.

I was very much a loner as a little girl and always had my face in a book. The books WERE my friends. I love reading, and I think reading is a great thing. But it IS an escape from reality, unless you're reading a dishwasher installation manual. That was, in fact, the whole point to books when I was younger: get away from what was really happening, into a different world. I have a sneaking suspicion that despite my current sophistication (slight sarcasm on myself there) in reading material and my better ways of explaining it, it still is an escape into a different world, even when (perhaps especially when?) it's a book on, for example, ancient cultures. I love it and I can't imagine giving it up.

I'm not superior to someone who does this by playing a game. It's a different mechanism with the same result.

There are several factors at play here. To hone in on Porn and Video games is silly...

What a dullard of an article. Utterly stupid and devoid of any decent analysis.

Guess what, women also like porn and video games too.

I don't even believe there is a "demise of men". Plenty of young men watch porn, play video games and function perfectly well in society.

I think social constructs are changing and boys are having a harder time with the changes but it's very complex and can't be blamed on these 2 things.

In all fairness, books also have the ability to pull one into an alternate universe. I would venture to say that a spouse that got home from work, picked up a book and buried themselves into it way into the night on a regular basis would not be acceptable. Tossing the words "video games" though seems to connote a fat, lazy, never changes their underwear type playing games for days at a time eating hot pockets without heating them up.

It's about moderation. That some people allow things to take over their lives and consume them to an unhealthy degree is neither new, nor exclusive to video games.
