I know the general rule of thumb is to avoid an office romance. In actuality, I first met my wife at work, although she was a summer intern at the time. Here's an article that a study found that office romances frequently lead to marriage:

Office Romances Frequently Lead to Marriage

This kind of indicates that office romances shouldn't necessarily be discouraged, but I do think cautions should be followed.

I don't know if I'd say we started off as an "office" romance because we didn't work in an office - but we were on tour together. "Tourmances" have a way of being amazing or torturous!

Sometimes it's hard to meet people outside of work...it seems like often, it's the main option. We spend at least half of our waking days in the office, generally.

My sister and ex-BIL met in the office. Of course, while working, and even going out to lunch together (with other coworkers), they were very non-touchy and kept things very professional.

I say yes unless it's explicitly stated in some company rule not to.

Office romances seem to happen a lot where I work, but I have yet to be involved in one.

We never did anything while in the office, but everyone knew we were going out by the end of summer. As I said, caution should be taken. Some of the things we did while out could have been considered harassment had things gone bad. What irked me the most when she told me way after we were married, a married co-worker tried to get her to hook up. That was a clear-cut case of harassment.

I'll pass. I've had several opportunities when I was younger, but the risk is simply too great for something to go wrong. I know a guy who was involved with a woman in the legal department of my job as f^ck buddies. Things went south and everyone immediately knew their business.
