Yeah, I've had friends that do that and it rarely goes the way they want. So I can see how your friends would be upset to find out he just went and hooked up with someone else instead of running back to them. It's a high risk game they play. Best to just move on and forget about the guy since he was obviously not in the same mind set about their relationship as the woman was. Plus it DOES show he wasn't in love with them after all so it'd be an eye opening stomp on the old heart.
