I guess you can say I'm both physically and verbally affectionate. I don't know if it's too much though.

My guard? What do you mean?
Don't let your niceness/mushiness make someone think they could potentially take advantage of you wrongly - so with that to keep your guard up.

I agree with the poster who said to be yourself! Life is too short to worry about annoying people by expressing your true personality!
I think the idea of dating to find someone you are compatible with is lost somehow and has morphed into the idea we should be able to make everyone like us. The truth is it is a process to weed out those we don't fit well with and you will never be successful in finding a good partner if you are willing to change who you are because of another's opinion.

Despite my reserved exterior, I'm actually a very mushy person, so I like when a girl is too. If a girl is too physically distant, it begins to feel like I'm being too needy or cuddly. I don't cling to people like a limpet and I don't like it when a girl does that either, but I'm fine about hugging/holding hands/cuddling in bed.

fwiw i too interpret "mushy" as affectionate rather than silly

there is enough hard work, seriousness and worry in the rest of life. affection with a partner is something i treasure

I worry about this.
I find a person who texts nonstop while you are with them to be a hell of a lot more annoying than someone who is mushy.

I've never seen that movie but my ex hubby loved it (and he hates romantic comedies). Maybe I should watch it.

(Omg it's coming on right now on Bravo!)

I might be brass tacks, blunt, hard nosed, hard driving (phrasing), deep down inside I am sensitive, sentimental and a hopeless romantic. So, no a mushy woman is not a bad thing.
