Buddy of mine got married last year at this time. Over memorial day weekend in fact. I was the best man. About 2 - 2.5 months ago they filed for a dissolution (never heard of that before), she moved out and that was that. Apparently she cheated on / had an affair about 3 months after they were married and just generally went nuts so to speak. All in all they were married for about 9 months. They did however live together for about 3 years before getting married and were engaged for 2 years. seems pretty odd to have dated for more than 3 years, be engaged for a good 2 years and then dissolve the marriage only after 9 months.
The shortest I have ever heard of was 3 months. I didn't meet this guy but I was chatting with this guy on a dating site and he admitted that his marriage lasted 3 months. He later revealed he couldn't believe it ended because "women are supposed to be submissive" and his wife refused to be. She also refused to allow him to hit her and once he did she left.
However in real life, the shortest marriage I have encountered was a childhood friend. Her and her boyfriend kept breaking up and finally when they were 21 got married. They got engaged during senior year of high school and got married once they turned 21. It was May of 1993 and I believe less than a year later they were already separated and within two years of the marriage were divorced. In fact she remarried the summer of 1995. She has since been remarried two other times that I know of.
6 days. And they didn't get it annulled. The guy was a bum. The lady was to put it gently a moron. Both parties are still making the same mistakes today.
Eleven months. My drama-llama eldest sibling just had to get married before she finished college even though my parents wondered what the rush was. No, not pregnant or anything like that, but I guess when a Princeton man comes knocking, he must be perfect.
She told us all of these stories about what he allegedly did, but after seeing her insanity for the last 40 years, I tend to think that he just realized what a nutter she is, decided he made a huge mistake, and that was that.

Your sis sounds like a nightmare... thankfully it wasn't a family gene that wasn't passed along to all the children.....
My brother was married to his first wife about a year. They got along great until they got married. I dated a man before I remarried who was married for 9 months. Same story. He and his 1st wife had a great relationship for a few years, married and couldn't live with each other.
People theses days don't take commitment seriously: our should I say people quit too easy. personally, when it comes to spousal betrayal; better sooner than ten years down the road.
