It depends on the person IMO.
some women (and men I'm sure) just complaign. They are venting, but they really do little or nothing long term to solve the issue.
Have one bad day at work? Well then, let's have a glass of wine, and talk about your day. I'm all ears.
1000 bad days at work? Get a new job already. Whats that, the economy sucks, and you can't find work in your field? Then go to school, or start at ground zero, or GET USED TO IT.

When people let the same problem (like work stress, or general unhappyness in life) become a problem in a relationship, THAT'S when guys (and women I'm sure) have a problem with venting. After the 1000 vents about the same problem, most people are ready to move on. Heck, even 365 days of a problem causes stress in a relationship.

I've read this "vent" thing a long long time ago. I still to this day, just try and solve problems as opposed to just nodding my head and listening...

It's hard, I guess we're just wired differently, I catch myself at times when it happens, just don't catch myself all the time.

Too bad I'm not a guy, because I think I could be a damn good boyfriend. I'd totally get all the chicks and you dudes would be so jealous of me. :P

I think well.. I'm guessing that men tend to want to help even when we can't. We try to play hero & rescue our SO. Sadly I've been finding out the hard way it doesn't work like that. No matter how hard we try we can't fix things.

That's my take on it.. more likely I'm wrong

As is the case with all relationships - but none moreso than that between adults - honest communication is the key.

The above 90-second piece of brilliance illustrates the concept beautifully.

Bravo to all involved.
