Now hear me out. Men(not all)think they are better looking than what they really are. This is why they date up. Women on the other hand tend to think they are not all that. That's why some settle. Do you agree?
I agree. I would see so many men on dating sites who were obese but list themselves as average or athletic. I've met men who think they are better looking. Oh sure there are women who do this but not like the men I have met.
Well a professor for a biological anthropology course I had, stated in lecture that to attract female mates en must acquire muscle mass.
I don't think you're necessarily wrong except I think you underestimate how muscle mass on a man can be viewed as sexually attractive to women. Maybe not so huge as to look like a professional bodybuilder but that have some visible significant muscle mass, combined with definition of course. That could be a male swimmer's body or someone LL Cool J's size.

Men and women are equally delusional. Anyone who gets out from behind their computer long enough and mingles in the real world with real people would see that. Unless of course you're just completely biased and narrow minded, in which case it doesn't matter because you probably won't be getting very many dates anyway.
Just because most men want to date an attractive women doesnt mean they think overly highly of themselves looks wise it just means we like good looking women
Also most couples are evenly matched..this idea some women here get that its tons of ugly or average guys with hot women while average or unattractive women are all ignored is bs..
Maybe its because women find so little % of men actually good looking that unless the guy in a relaitonship is a 10 and the women ugly theyll think the women is the better looking one in the relationship..
Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I find neither of those men's physiques attractive.
