Just thought I'd throw this out for a shallow Friday discussion.
I've known a few heterosexual couples who have had very similar names:
Victoria (Vicky) and Victor (Vic)
Kris and Chris
I even knew a girl once whose parents were named Albert and Alberta.
But I recently discovered that with same-sex couples, you could actually end up with the same exact name. I guess it never dawned on me, until my neighbors (we have a number of gay couples in my neighborhood) were talking about past neighbors who had moved away. They mentioned "that was Rob & Rob's house." When I exclaimed how funny it was that "Rob and Rob" were a couple, they mentioned that there also used to be a "Ken & Ken" couple in our neighborhood.
I got to thinking, if I were gay, and I met a woman named Tracy, wouldn't that sort of be a deal-breaker? I think the person would have to be REALLY wonderful and I'd have to be head-over-heels in love to start a relationship with someone with my same name. And even then, it might be a problem.
Do you know any couples with the same first name?
If you're gay, could you have a relationship with someone with your same first name? Or would it be a deal-breaker? Have you had a relationship with someone with the same name as you? Was it annoying, funny, confusing, or did it just not matter after a while?
my gay friend and his boyfriend have the EXACT same name. To solve the issue, the boyfriend is called by everyone by his last name, and my friend by boths name.
Yup, I know a lesbian couple who are Judy and Judi. Everyone calls them "The Judies."
My first name is a unisex one, though not one of the especially common ones, so I could ostensibly be in a relationship with someone with my same name. I'm not, but I could be.
A bit off the title, but fun anyway, IMO. I went to school with a girl with a common last name who married the real "boy next door" who had the same last name, so her married name stayed the same as her unmarried name (and they were not related).
