Should have tossed her belongings out the front door, locked the door, turned out the lights and gone to bed. Only to wake up to a brand new day.

It depends upon the circumstances.

When I worked a job that ended at midnight but had 2 additional hours of overtime, it would be very common for me to be standing around with a group of men at 3 AM. Some of them smoking, most of them drinking. Nothing improper going on.

If it was a good friend who was having some sort of crisis, then, yeah. OK to sit in the car with him and let him cry it out.

But I can think of other circumstances where it wouldn't be OK. The answer is going to depend upon the woman and what the circumstances were. However, I would think that either partner would stop doing it if it bothered their significant other.
