His texts were " Hey beautiful" and he sent another text " Are you still sleeping?". I sent him a text back saying "Whats up handsome?" And no reply till now. The texts were sent yesterday noon. I usually hang out with this dude on saturday nights so not sure now if were still seeing each other tonight.

Either he is legitimately busy, he is absent minded with his phone, or he is just gaming you. Watch him when your with him. If he is responsive with his phone then he's gaming you. If he doesn't look at it much, keeps it on silent, or doesn't really pay attention it, you have your answer.
Or
He lined up another chick last night and had no need to hit you back.

Stop texting. TALK. Then you'll actually understand.

Maybe it's my age (pushing 40), but it's crazy to me when young people get worked up when they haven't received a response to a communication in 24 hours. In my age demographic (30-somethings) we're young enough that text communication is the norm, but old enough that we're busy professionals with busy lives and don't always expect instant response.
The number of things that can come up in 24 hours is nearly infinite. Often times for me a 24 hour period can consist of just work and sleep, and maybe a social activity thrown in there somewhere, and I just don't get around to responding to texts, even from someone I really like. Catching up with emails and texts is sometimes something I only do every few days, or possibly even once a week.
I wouldn't worry about a lack of response until several days or weeks have gone by, but maybe that's just me.
