One thing I've noticed about a lot of my male friends in their 30's and 40's that are married, is that they're pushovers when it comes to relationships. It's embarrassing for me to watch at times. At the end of the day these men can hold a relationship together by simply being subservient, and ignoring their angry wives. I couldn't imagine being in the doghouse 2-3 days a week for the rest of my life, but I know a lot of men that do it. I ask this question because my grandma was talking about this a while back, and I found it interesting that she said you didn't see a whole lot of that until about the last 30 years or so. What's changed?

The next relationship I get into will be 50/50 give or take. I don't want told what to do and I don't want to tell someone what to do either.

No one is in charge in our household. I'm not SO's mother, he doesn't need to be told what to do. He's perfectly capable of knowing what needs to be done, keeping track of things, and we do them together, or to our strengths/preferences.

I don't understand your reference to all these angry wives. Why are they angry?

when I hear about wearing the pants in the relationship, I think of control.
No one controls me.
And I'm not controlling anyone.

I won't be with someone that isnt compatitble with me.

As I have been single for a while now in my 30's, I am kind of surprised how many people I date try to control their s/o (me).
I feel many people are only interested in a relationship if they can control their s/o.

It is so bad, that I am getting to a point in my life that regardless of looks, income, or education, if I find a woman that isn't seeking control, and just wants a companion/life partner, I will date her, unless she has no confidense.

Cars only have one steering wheel.

The man is "suppose" to be the "head of the house."

Sadly, women, children, pets etc. have taken over that position reeking havoc on the traditional family.

I couldn't tell you, but they're usually in a bad mood. It's not like I don't know guys that are jerks to their wives as well, but for the most part the majority of the guys I know under the age of 50 are always in the doghouse.
