So, I've been seeing a guy regularly for about 3 months. I'm noticing some odd behavior (different from how he normally acts) and I'd like to get some opinions. He is 47 and I am 41. We both drink alcohol socially. He has a good job and is completely 100% functional during the work week.
On occasion, he will do the following which is out of the norm:
- be extremely loving and touchy feely, like overboard
- talk about God, the afterlife, and ghosts he has seen
- he sometimes can't get it up
- He is NOT slurring his words, does NOT have bloodshot eyes, does NOT wake up feeling horrible
- I don't see or smell anything when I come over (I know how pot smells)
- Some of what we discuss he can't remember a few days later
- He keeps some odd hours - up until 3AM some nights and sleeps late, yet isn't jumpy or hyper
I am not wise to drug culture, but I feel something might be going on here other than just social drinking. I have not snooped to try to find any drug paraphanelia, but I'm thinking I may have to before I become even more invested in this relationship. It's just raising some big red flags for me.
Any thoughts?

Some of those observations remind me of my grandmother who is 88 and has some Alzheimer's, although probably much more mild. I believe vascular dementia could be similar and also explain the ED. It could also just be his personality.
If it's adderall its no big deal especially if its prescribed. Ecstacy is obviously worse, but used occasionally and out and about is not too uncommon.
Why dont you just ask him? Not that hard. "Do you take drugs or adderall or something?"
Touchy feely is a bit more ecstacy but in that setting it seems odd.
Both can cause ED
Both keep you awake.
Are his pupils dialated? Ecstacy they would dilate them. Adderall they would not.
I'm reading the responses, and looking at the poster who says 'that might explain the 'ED'. ED...where did that come from?
"He's 100% functional during the week"!
OMG.....I think the OP is saying he is 'functional'...as in he gets up (NOT he gets IT up), acts normally, gets to work on time, is productive, doesn't call in sick once a week, dresses appropriately, etc.....
OP, help me out here.....am I on the right track, or are you getting pounded five days a week, and then we rest on the weekend?
sounds like he is on perscription drugs and/or has some mental health/neurological issues, but you should inquire. can be "drug free" and still act this way.
i'm familiar with most recreational drugs (i like to party, what can i say), and you describe no solid symptoms typical of any recreational drug. in fact, i think you might be over reacting to some. good luck.

No... the OP is listing "he cant get it up" as something that seems to be a side effect of whatever he's on..
Yes, with these few sentences alone we can know if he is a drug user..... good lord
