If it’s intended as a compliment I would take it as such.
I personally do not like using the word towards people, but if someone used it towards me in a well intentioned manner I wouldn’t see any reason to become irritable or offended.
I've been called "honey" and "babe" by a female Ihop waiter just last week and in various other environments by strangers. I don't think much about it nor do I have sleepless nights.
Some people call everyone babe. However, when a female intern (15 years younger than me) called me "baby girl" I had to put a stop to that one.
Hmmm. I would feel like it was the 70s again. I don't know how I'd feel...I think I'd take it as, this is an old person and this was how he and his father did it in the old days. I wouldn't think he was trying to insult me or anything, no.
Now if someone said it sarcastically, then I'd realize he was just an *ss! LOL.
Not quite used as a term of "endearment" nor as in "No babe, not that blouse" (as in spouse speak)
In my case, it is coming from an almost-stranger/ during a sexual encounter (with FWB)
Has an unattractive person be called "Babe"?!
What is your real question? Do you wonder if you are ugly or he finds you ugly but not too ugly to bone?
