Personally, being a male I find them either funny or close to being true. I never take it personally since half the population is male and is not specifically directed towards me. Even if I strongly disagree with the statement I still get a good chuckle.

Do you find them offensive or just laugh it off? What's your gender?

Most gender stereotypes don't bother me because there is a hint of truth to them.

The ones that do are the assumptions that all women use child support for themselves or all women use pregnancy to rope in a guy (because, he didn't really want to have a kid with his spouse ..).

Both of these do not apply to me and I will defend my position to no end.

I'm female and think that most people spend way too much energy finding stuff to get offended by. I think it's realistic to acknowledge that most stereotypes are based on reality.

Too bad if I sound grumpy about this; I must be having my period or something.

I don't meet most of the male stereotypes, so it doesn't bug me. It's not about me.

Don't bother me at all, it is nothing personal.

I can't generalize about generalizations, since it depends on the particulars.

Some stereotypes I might agree with & find insightful and/or humorous,
other stereotypes I might not agree with & find off-base/don't apply to me.

In some ways, I'm "just like" most women-yet in other ways, I'm a very distinct & rare individual.
Same can be said for anybody, as there are ways in which he/she resembles a stereotype
& ways in which he/she defies the stereotype.

It depends on who is doing the stereotyping and how they are doing it. My husband and I can freely joke about each other. Reading about how all women are gold diggers or other such nonsense on here by men who truly believe it - that rankles me.

you absolutely correct , most gender stereotypes are based on truth , its the liberals who are hell bent on re arranging traditional male - female mannerisms that I hate

these liberals have created a generation of confused young men who are taught from a young age that traditional male charechteristics are at best problematic and in need of fixing and at worst psychotic and dangerous

Sweet, I was hoping for a gender war thread that somehow incorporated politics.
