Does being some one who thinks literally make dating easier for you?

Would dating for everyone be better if people were more literal and assumed far less?~

Think about it: in relationships if people were more literal and assumed far less, then perhaps there would be far less problems?~

Example: your lover sees you kissing what appears to be a very attractive women on the cheek and hugging them tightly and after that they say to you, "HOW COULD YOU CHEAT ON ME?!" and you say, "Um...that was my cousin. o.O"

Or another of one the most common of problems in relationships is when people "expect their lover to some how MAGICALLY KNOW how each other are feeling without a word being said or any attempt at communication made".~

I'm always telling people that, "NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING, ASSUMPTION IS THE DEATH OF RELATIONSHIPS!"

Mean what you say, and say what you mean.~

every woman ive ever dated expected me to be a mind reader. in their world, it just wouldnt be the same if they had to say it. urgh

In order to be literal and direct, one must be earthly. figure it out....

What would make dating life easier for so many would be to get rid of all the rules, regulations, guidelines, requirements, applications, interviews, stigmas, texting, emails, online dating and slang words. Use real words in real conversations on a real telephone or better yet facing each other at a diner. Be open, honest, attentive and interested in what is being said and who is saying it.

Using Myers-Briggs personality types, I'd say yes, as a significant majority of people are literal/concrete SF or ST types. They are most likely to be attracted to their own types, and not to the metaphorical/abstract types, but as a majority they will have an easier time. The abstract thinker types have a harder time finding compatible dates because there are fewer of them.

The ability to communicate in many ways is probably the most important skillset for dating. Expecting others to suppress their skills in non verbal communication because you need everything spelled out verbally is not really a recipe for success.

It almost sounds like to be "literal" in this context is to be an unfeeling robot. That's probably unlikely in most relationships where people are emotionally attached.

I disagree that assumption is the big problem. I would say jumping to conclusions without effective communication is the real problem in people who misread, and overreact to things.

No. Becasusr literally thinking and literally speaking usually means that there was very little thought involved. Which explains most of your posts, now that I think about it.
