It goes back to the first story in the bible and remember thinking this even when I was real young. Eve did not offer Adam an apple from an apple tree - she offered him fruit from the tree of knowledge. The apple somehow became a symbol representing knowledge - Apple Computers area great example.
Eve offered Adam 'knowledge' and he rejected her at first. My theory on why women are smarter than men.
