I imagine that the "appropriate sex partner" would be an inappropriate life partner.

I am on my phone, please forgive the typos.

There are billions of people on the planet. There really is very little excuse why someone could not work on themselves enough to draw interest from somebody of the opposite sex.

Well sure, but we see all around us, that so very many can't find someone they actually want.

In the early '90s there was a recession which spawned a joke to the effect that there were two kinds of jobs: jobs you can't get and jobs you don't want. Dating is like that for many people.

So some unfortunate woman gets paired with one of the mysogenic whiners that post here and she is required by law to give him sex. Or what? Jail time?

And which of you men get assigned to the overweight alcoholic 60 year old woman? She could use a partner in life, too, and if you are making assignments, that means for everyone, not just the young, fit, and beautiful.

It's probably not going to work, OP. At a minimum, the murder rate would soar.

Well then, maybe social dating welfare will be the next Government initiative.

-ObamaDate-

Everyone who doesn't have a significant other will be required to get one or face an exhobitant fine. They are welcome to keep the one they already have, or acquire one on their own. OR, they can sign up on the ObamaDate website, and be able assigned a date from the gender of their own choosing....

This is eminently true. The frustration, I think, is that modernity has simplified some things, but has rendered others more complex.

Modernity has simplified many of the traditional struggles of life... how to find clean water, how to feed oneself, how to avoid being impressed into involuntary service or to be shunned on account of being the wrong race/ethnicity/whatever. It's easier to remain alive today, in the modern West, as an independent and reasonably free person. But some things are harder. Chief of these is the struggle to find (and to keep) a mate.

It's because so many other aspects of life have become easier, that in contrast romance has become harder.

To be consistent, Obamadate would have to include subsidies in order to make poor people dateable. This would require redistribution in the direction OPPOSITE to Obaamacare subsidies. (Subsidies would overwhelmingly go to men since the vast majority of women can already get dates without a subsidy, and a majority of men would require subsidies to be dateable.)

::cracking up::

So what form would the subsidies take? Free counseling? Most of the young guys here seem to need it for severe depression and powerlessness issues. Maybe some personal shopping, to smarten up their look?

For women, I think the subsidies would in most cases take the form of boob jobs and hair/eyelash extensions.

Well, if this proposed government program works anything like Obamacare, I'd likely wind up with a 4'6" balding dwarf with halitosis and an obsession with crystal unicorn figurines.

I think the traditional method works fine for anybody with decent social skills, thanks.
