The girl I am with and I like each other a whole, whole lot. We are really obsessed with each other.

However, the problem is that we live three hours away from each other and are both very busy, meaning we can't see each other very often. Right now we are only able to hang out about every other weekend or so.

We make the most of it when we do see each other, and talk on the phone, online and text a lot, etc.

But I just want to keep that spark as alive as possible in a sort of a tough situation until our schedules start to open up a bit more and/or we begin to get more and more serious.

Does anyone have any fun ideas as to how we can keep our feelings alive and fresh even living a little ways apart like this? Thanks in advance.

Send little notes through the mail.
Send an inexpensive bouquet to work/school.
Leave messages on his/her answering machine.
Make plans for a picnic/date night for the next time you get together. Something to look forward to.

Send videos!!!!

Videos are always fun and when you miss someone you can just open up a video. Seeing their face, hearing their voice, and getting a little action is killing 3 birds with one stone!

I am dating long distance... one thing I find fun (and it almost feels like we are on a date) is when we both watch the same show and send messages about it. Sunday night football is a good one because we can both watch and then message back and forth about "did you see that interception!?" "Wow, what a play" etc. It's like you are doing something together when you aren't together. And of course, this can be any TV show (doesn't have to be football). Just something the two of you both like.

I dated someone 'short long distance' for a while, when I was younger and we wound up in different cities for grad school. (About 4 hours away, by car. Close enough for an occasional visit or that we could be there in case of emergency).

We sent a lot of cards, letters, postcards, etc. It's really nice to get something in the mail other than a bill or a piece of junk mail, and there's something more intimate about a handwritten note than an email or text. (We did plenty of that, too.)

We also had this composition notebook (the black and white marbled ones) that we'd send back and forth a few times a month. When we had it, we'd carry it around for a few days, write love letters, silly notes, etc in it. Glue in funny little things - cartoons clipped from the paper, fortune cookie fortunes, stuff we'd seen in a magazine and wanted to share with the other, etc. That was kind of fun.

We'd also watch tv shows or football games 'together', while on the phone or on chat.

And we ran up a huge phone bill.
