The guy Im dating for 5 weeks is going to take me with him to his works christmas party. We both live away from the venue of the party about 40 miles away from my house and he lives about 35 miles away from me. He doesn't want me to drive so the plan is he's going to drop me off after the party at my house. Im thinking that its logical to just rent a hotel nearby where we both can spend the night to avoid the potential of getting into an accident or him getting a DUI. The party is an open bar so its sure that were both going to have alcohol
I need some suggestions how to bring it up in such a way that I wouldn't sound like Im giving him a green light to have sex with me. We haven't been intimate and I like that were taking things slow. The farthest we've gone was kissing. Is this even a good idea?. What do you guys think? Any suggestions how to bring it up?
Rent the hotel, drive yourself. Tell him you want him to enjouy himself at the party and not worry about driving you home, so you have made arrangements for yourself.

You don't do it.
Take a cab.
Open bar + work function = bad idea unless you are mature enough to control your intake.

Drive anyway because it is more practical - stress that point.
If he drives you to the event, first he has to pick you up (35 miles from him), drive to the venue (40 miles), drive you back home (40 miles), and then drive to his home (35 miles). So he is going to be driving that evening a total of 150 miles. Tell him to save time and gas and meet you there. At this point in the relationship, and the pace that it is going, it is unlikely you'll let him sleep over so there's no reason for him to go to your house.
Reserve a hotel for yourself and don't tell him - he doesn't need to know about it. What he does is his business.
[go easy on the drinking - that'll solve some of your other concerns]
[wry observation]Dating 5 weeks... no sex, just kissing... smh... in a European forum the o.p. would be laughed at. Here, they are being coached in how best to keep the charade going. Friends, this is just one example of why America sits at the rock bottom of rankings where being at the bottom is bad, and tops the list of rankings where being at the top is bad. I'm talking about developed countries of course. Carry on. [/wry observation]
