Yes. Work on your personality and self esteem. If you keep telling yourself you're ugly, chances are you'll project that. Confidence is a very attractive trait, as is a sense of humour. Work on those things cuz looks don't matter to many people.

Most really attractive women want their guy to have looks, money and a good physique. Not all, but a good percent. There's no reason to think you can't get a cute girl next door type, but folks who make it sound like you can be an unattractive guy with a great personality and be able to land a fitness model girlfriend, I don't buy that. You can even be in great shape and not attractive. Sometimes there's nothing you can do physically. Big ears, eyes too close together, bad hairline, short. Never give up, but don't believe anyone can get a dream girl if they try hard enough.

Hormones always helped me adjust my expectations in the dry periods. OP could always get to know someone he doesn't picture marrying and at least work on his social skills.

It's harder for unattractive women IMO. Men are generally more visual.

Start by stop using the word "ugly". It's a horrible word

Most pretty women want nothing to do with you if you aren't attractive like Channing Tatum and don't have Bill Gates money. The majority of women most likely feel meh about most men anyways. Oh well, living alone is much better than worrying about this.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would be cool with a 7 at this point in my life. lol Now that I am older I don't feel the need to be with a 8 or 9 anymore like i did when I was 25 years old.
