There's no way it's that consistent. I bet there are some places where it's 2-3% and other places where it's 30-40%. And I bet if you're part of an interracial couple it's not hard to notice the difference.

10%? You don't think you'd notice if one out of every 10 people you encountered every day disapproved of your relationship based on race alone? I bet you would.

You can find it in a lot of places. Out here the Native tribes generally treat people worse if they intermarry (and treat the kids worse) and some of the Hispanic/ Old Spanish families will look down on interracial relationships.

Are there any places where in the upper classes and upper middle classes interracial relationships are accepted?

Probably. I imagine that being the son or daughter of a high-ranking politician/ambassador/businessperson in the DC Beltway or something and bringing home someone outside of your race would possibly get you in trouble, just as it might in a wealthy neighborhood in LA or San Francisco or New York City or Chicago or Miami or Dallas/Ft. Worth, etc. etc. etc.

I can think of several small towns in east and southeast Texas where interracial relationships are likely to be frowned upon.

One of the accomplishments of the civil rights movement was to make blatant, in-your-face expressions of racism less socially acceptable. That means that whatever their private views, people are less likely to express open hostility to an interracial couple in public because they can no longer count on other people backing them up.
