I'm interested in hearing people's answers

With a particular person what's the biggest amount of time that passed between your first and second date? Was they're a particulary reason for it?

How about 25 years? (Someone I went on a date with in high school, lost contact with and then ran into when he moved back to our hometown.) The joke then was that at this pace, a third date would probably involve flowers and a eulogy.

Usually the better the date goes the quicker the next one is.

First date with MrsCPG wasn't quite a disaster, but it was close. I had taken her to a music festival. There, we met some friends of mine. Then we left the festival to go eat, and rode back in their car, leaving mine at the restaurant. Big mistake. The friends got into a fight and left, marooning us. So here I was with this girl I barely knew without a way to get back to my car. I finally spotted someone I knew who got me back to my car. But it was a long first date. Something like 8 hours.

After that, I decided to cool it for a couple of weeks. I left a message on her answering machine and she vacillated over calling me back. Her roommate said, "Well, you said he made you laugh. At the very least, it's a free meal."

So she called back and said, "Sure. But I'm meeting you there." Two buckets of beers later, things had taken a turn for the better. We were engaged three months after first meeting.
