BTW I wasn't judging them. I don't tell people not to drink. Its just my personal choice.
And you have legitimate reasons.

Yes I do. The biggest is if I get lucky enough to have a woman want to be with me I do not want to subject her to verbal abuse as my father gave to my mother or a couple of female cousins were given by a husband or parent.

Not mentioned yet; what if the guy (or gal for that matter), is a sober alcoholic far along in recovery? This person is confident enough to be in a drinking environment without being temped to relapse and drink. Being able to sit and sip a soda or iced tea in a social situation and feel comfortable with it is something that not all sober alcoholics can pull off. Those that can should be respected, not scorned or be regarded with suspicion.

I've ordered soda before at a bar namely because I was there on business not just pleasure. When ever I have played out in a band I didn't drink until after the gig, some of my friends can do it drinking alcohol or even smoking some MJ and still play good and on time but not me. My playing gets sloppy. Besides my high is having all the intoxicated and high people go "yeah!" after a song.

Then there are times I have gone to see a band but had things to do the next day and while I LOVE to cut loose sometimes and catch a nice nice buzz the fact is when that happens I'll probably stay out ALL NIGHT and sleep most of the next day.

As far as socializing, fact is after 5 or 6 beers trying to hold a conversation or attract a woman becomes harder because I won't be at the top of my wit unless she is at the same level of intoxication lol....

No, I don't pay attention to what other people drink, or I'd assume they're the DD or maybe have some health issues that alcohol would interfere with...or just not into booze. Either way, I don't care.
