I fit in to category 2. I did category 1 before and hated it.

I don't think it's that hard finding a man that appreciates that.

I voted for #2 but since I don't plan to have anymore kiddos if the right gal comes along I could hang with #3

c) Very career-minded are those that want to finish their major and/travel, believes in long-term monogamous relationship but might not want kids. Not traditional like the first.

Well let's see. I waited until marriage. I am an excellent cook. I am loyal and monogamous. Always wanted children but my husband and I were never able to make that happen. Have a professional career, but have very traditional values.

Many of my female friends are the same, but most do have children.

Where’s option D Not normal?

I’m looking for that Shirley Manson / wore a choker in the 90’s / neurotic as hell / listens to Nirvana / drives a Subaru with a manual transmission / not child centric / slightly career minded / owns a pair of leather pants / sleeps naked / once skinny dipped in a hotel pool / cries during sad movies / credit score above 800 type

Category 3; possibly with a thriving career that demands assiduous attention, but more importantly, little patience for traditional domestic life.

Curiously, we have several threads currently ongoing, where men bemoan the paucity of Category-3 women. So perhaps the great impediment is not the small numbers, but the inability to contact one another?

I would have formerly have said c).

But I don't think any of the options at this point. Someone more off the map of society's typical path. I'm pretty sure that's what I'll need if I can find it.

This is probably the best response I've seen in this thread.

This is not a speculation about the OP, but I think a lot of people compare dating and marriage to the 1950's style of how marriage and dating went and it's incredibly flawed. The stereotype of the 1950's wife just being a housewife and was super-old fashioned isn't a factual representation of how men saw women throughout history or how they see them today. Or how women really were. I think the majority of men want a balanced woman who believes in prioritizing her family and home, but has a level of professional development which is conducive to career prospects and earning potential. Most important, a man wants to be with a woman who'll respect him and show her commitment to him no matter what she is, whether she's "old-fashioned" or not.
