I've noticed that clown suits, transparency and a lack of reflection in mirrors tend to set off my alarm bells.

Smiling and being bubbly all the time. No one who lives in the United States can be that damn happy all the time.

IMO the word creepy is thrown around quite a bit.

If you want creepy, Facebook is where it is cultivated and consumed.

Creepy people have been around for eternity. There's nothing new about them. They have this weird steer with vacant eyes. Sometimes there's just a look that you can't quite define.

I agree. It's a look that makes you want to avoid this person completely or keep an eye on them if you cant go around them (In an Elevator, Subway etc.) Instinct is stronger then we realize and somehow most people know when they should keep their guard up-Or get away.

Djuna and D. Scott, that's exactly it. You can't explain it. They haven't done anything really, but you sense a current underneath them. Its a blank face, but something behind the eyes. You can feel them looking at you and they don't care if you catch them staring.

Staring for far too long, so that it becomes disconcerting. If the person engages you in conversation, assuming too much familiarity right away, invading personal space/touching, and bringing up sex in some form or another - even as a "joke" - are all major creep factors.
