Oh this is rich. I don't have the $1000 approx it would cost to move in somewhere else. I know several women who don't exactly have this problem; they don't have money to move into a pad, but they are able to find men to put them up at least temporarily. (Yeah I know.)
There are more men than women who do that. Don't lie to yourself.
YES that is EXACTLY how I feel. Did I mention that the drunk picked up a chick at a bar a few weeks after I moved in, and brought her home, and she moved in, and they stayed home all day and drank and then they fought and then about two or three times a week for three years either she would storm out and drive away or he would kick her out of the house and she would drive away? And how each of them have been hauled off to jail at least twice for DV? I am pissed* as **** and would have moved out long ago if I had had any money.
* American usage (under the British usage, I would be a drunk too!)
Did you say the drunk is also a vet? He perhaps has a lot of problems himself, he might even have ptsd himself. I think you really need to move out of that toxic place.
1. Your financial status, whatever it may be, is NOT the reason for lack of success in dating.
And yet 75% of women I believe it is, say they won't date a man who doesn't have a job. Yes, the OP has a job but from the sounds of it it's minimum wage or not much above. Sad to say it's going to be a factor if his financial status is bleak unless he's specifically looking for women who don't have to be wined and dined and can see the value in inexpensive dates.

His helpless and defeatist attitude is much more of an issue than his income.
Source, please? You make a lot of bold claims, Ms. Jones. I'm not saying you're wrong, but unless you can show us some data you're no more right than he is.
Save up your dimes and get a few EMDR treatments by a qualified psychologist. (Google EMDR + your city to find practitioners.) Your PTSD should resolve within a few treatments. Or depending on where you live, you might be able to find an acupuncturist who can resolve it in a couple of treatments. There's no need to live with that.

Ummm...I'm pretty sure PTSD isn't "resolved" in a few treatments. It's not poison ivy.

Delusion is rampant in the Nila posts. It's hard to take seriously at this point.

I think Ruth is correct. PTSD is not going to be resolve in a few treatments, but treatments are still needed.
EMDR does do wonder. I personally believe Op should try it. It is better than no treatments at all.
It looks like op doesn't even have a very supportive group around him, he is in a very bad situation living with the drunk. Just my .02.
