I don't know if I could shoot an animal. I mean, I would if I had to, but not just for ****s n' giggles.
All the animals in the mountains & BLM forests, etc have never tried to harm us. I am armed. Once in a while I see bear or mountain lion. They go about their business, as do I.
I do mark my territory at home, on the mountain......

We saw a couple bears while up in the mountains. They looked at us, we looked at them, and we all just went our separate ways.

And that is why I checked the park's ecology before I signed up for the camping trips. if the likelihood of encounters with bears was even slightly close, I passes, same went for big cats.

I was at the lake with my boat, fishing the shoreline for bass. I saw a black bear playing in the water a short distance away. ALL of a sudden he/she see's me, does a 180, runs out of the water, up the Hill, like a Locomotive......haaha...

Chow and I once considered visiting this wild cat sanctuary. I can't remember exactly how they worded it, but they had this special (expensive!) package where you stayed overnight among the cats (in a safe place, of course) and they described you sleeping and showering outdoors while listening to the sounds of the wild cats. I was like, "Doesn't that sound awesome?!" Chow was like, "Hell, NO!!"

I always knew he was a smart man. I wouldn't even go on a safari if given free round trip full expense paid tickets. I haven't any desire to addend any adventure where there's the possibility I'll become stalking game. Big cats, even at those petting zoo, glass enclosures, became a no, no after seeing "The Ghost And The Darkness". I've had nightmares of such game ever since seeing that darn movie.
Truth be told, not sure how I managed to sleep, at all, on any of the camping trips I went on. I always made sure my tent was closely centered in the group.

LOL, we've seen that.
I grew up camping and never gave it much of a thought. And I think I posted about this before, but Chow and I took his mom camping one time, and, as Chow and I were laying in the tent, it suddenly occurred to me that we're like sitting ducks out there. But I was thinking more along the lines of a crazed serial killer, not wild animals, LOL.

I was at a cottage in the Bruce Peninsula last year. https://www.google.ca/search?q=gimli...=isch&imgdii=_
I was sorta drunk and, well, I was peeing outside near the dirt road when I heard this rustling in the bush across the road, and out comes this big ol' black bear lol Maybe 30 feet away.
Needless to say, the stream was stopped dead in its tracks. She sniffed around at me from across the road for a minute, and then sauntered away. Couldn't believe it. lol
