A lot of the problem is that we're producing a lot of grads that don't have applicable job skills.
Only so many underwater basket weaving jobs out there... LOL...
STEM careers seem to be the order of the day........Usually those translate everywhere.....
yep but i could get a job with my 1/2 sister if i had to and she seems to be making it
I would not mind her work week she works 3 12 hour shifts one day off . Than 3 more 12 hour shifts and 6 to 7 days off. It does not sound like a bad deal to me.

I don't think so. If everyone started majoring in engineering, it would start paying a lot less and there'd be more unemployed engineers.
You've got to major in the right STEM field, and it's really hard to predict what will be hot a few years out. A friend of mine who majored in CIS still can't find anything.
I double majored in history and geography and I'm doing okay. I had two years where I couldn't find full time work, but admittedly I wasn't trying that hard. I'd apply for a job when I felt like it and thought it was "the job for me." Kind of had an entitlement attitude when I got out of college, as if that made me special and people should just want to give me a job that paid at least $50K. Finally snapped out of that.
When I started trying hard - meaning when I applied for every position I could find that I qualified for in the entire country - I started getting a decent number of call-backs and found something within 4 months.
