For those who have been through divorce - particularly in South Carolina, but not limited to - what did you lose financially?
As a never married person, no kids, no debt, owning a home and other assets and a good net worth I wonder if I would have to lose my mind to marry?
What would such a person stand to lose if he married someone who is already in debt, the marriage does not work out, and only lasts the average 5-8 years or less.

Don't do it! NEVER MARRY. You have the perfect life!
Generally assets and debts acquired before marriage stay with that person in the event of a divorce. Anything acquired jointly tends to be divided equitably. It is up to the judge.

Any loss in the matter of divorce is as individual as those who are getting the divorce.
There is no one size fits all situation because of the many variances in each situation.
