Happy husband, happy home fits our situation.

Now, that doesn't mean we all tiptoe around him. All this saying means to me is that when he's pissy it impacts everyone in the house.

I think both are valid. Husbands and wives play equally vital roles in a marriage. Both should enhance the life of the other. When there is a lack of balance there will be problems.

None of the above, I chose.

I think a happy wife doesn't necessarily mean a happy life. She could be happy but the husband less so. The husband could be unhappy with her despite that she's happy. Likewise, the husband could be happy, but the wife unhappy. The best combination that holds true is both of them being and making each other happy to keep a happy life and home.

So I think "happy wife, happy life, and happy husband, happy home" not just one or the other, makes the most sense.

I don't know which one is more true - but I will say that when one spouse isn't happy - it's pretty hard to have a happy home or life. Now - there are a lot of things that cause unhappiness that our outside of our control - loss of a loved one, loss of a job, depression, etc. - but there are certain things that you can definitely do to make your spouse happier. And when you make your spouse happier - chances are, you'll be happier, too.

All of the above. If its just one or two of the others, someone's going to be miserable. You can't have a marriage where its only about one persons happiness. The other is bound to be miserable, not getting their needs met.

There is a great saying about happiness.

Happiness isn't getting all you want. It's enjoying all you have.

- Rick Warren

This phase in the timeline of humanity where materialism rules is making a lot of people miserable.
I'm always hearing people saying that they wish we could go back to the simpler times when life wasn't so much about how money you had or didn't have.
But, we humans have brains that seek stimulation and adventure and that is what keeps us from staying home on the front porch and being content with what we see going on and by.
