I've never felt the need to assign an actual score to anyone. First, it's belittling. Second, it's just lame. And third, it's totally unnecessary. The English language provides lots of words to describe someone. Cute, hot, sexy, gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, plain, etc. When I evaluate a woman's looks, I don't feel the need to compare to other women either, which seems to be a big reason why certain men assign a score.
Whether you like it or not, you're comparing.
When you say one woman is hot, and then another is meh and another ugly, you're comparing.
I may assign numbers, but 5 out of random 10 women sitting in a room may get a 9 or higher from me.
Believe me. I guarantee you care about looks more than me and are pickier than me. Guarantee it and I know nothing about you. I'm god's gift to womens' confidence.

Wrong. If I say one woman is hot and another woman is ugly, that's NOT a comparison. Because whether I think the first woman is hot has nothing to do with what I think of the second woman. And as far as guarantees about what you think you know, don't make me laugh.
Justin Bieber is hot? :shudder: He looks like a little boy. No thanks. Tom Hardy, please.
It stands to taste really. I really find Bieber attractive. People think you're weird when you say that, but who cares about him being an immature jerk with a boyish face? Since when do we not like men with 'boyish' faces? It's NOT a first...
Seriously, if he was a well-liked, respected musician no one would flame you for saying "oh he's hot"...Clearly, there is some bias in here...

Excellent post. You're looking beyond the social desirability bias that's so prevalent around here, especially with the underlined part.
I'm a huge Tom Hardy fan myself...but you're absolutely right about the bias associated with someone's image.
Who cares. It's an easy way to express how attractive YOU think someone is. Obviously it's subjective. Putting people into one box because they describe someone's attractiveness in rather frank terms is silly
No, what's silly is coming up with a scale when the English language already provides plenty of adjectives to describe how attractive someone is.
