I never thought I would actually ponder this! I'm approaching 30 and moved to Reno a year ago for my career. Holy poop this is an awful city to find love in, let alone friends! It was so easy for me in LA and San Diego! I've been applying for jobs back in LA, OC, and SD with no offers sadly and it will probably take me 2 more years here to establish my career until I can get a job in my field back in Southern California.

I understand why so many people move to fun cities taking any job they could find but I choose to prioritize my career ahead of liking the city I live in. I'm starting to have doubts.

Nah. I would (and have) moved for an already-established relationship, but if I'm packing up and moving, in general, it's for some concrete reason, not, "Maybe I might meet more guys."

I also have liked everywhere I've ever lived, be it small town, large city, suburban, or rural, so it could just be that I'm really easy to please, in terms of liking where I live.

Sure. I plan on doing it at least twice.

Moving to a neighboring city, while I work part-time and go to school, which has more than the crap place I live in now-rural small town.

Then, after that, I plan on moving to a bigger city, where I may have better chance for meeting someone special-who actually returns the feelings for a change . But the city is to get the bachelor degree. Then a job, if I can't find one in the city I am in, then sure. A 3rd move may be in order.

My career choice isn't too rare, or demanding. So, a city will work. Anyplace that isn't small, and/or rural would work lol

No. Having a relationship isn't nearly as important to me as having a job I love and living in a place I like.

But I've also rarely found where I live to be a hindrance. Except for SF.
