Works hard at what he does, whether he is an engineer, professional golfer, garbage collector, plumber or stay-at home dad
Knows what he wants and goes after it
Listens to other people actively
Doesn't conform to gender stereotypes (for example he doesn't feel the need to apologize or explain himself if he likes going to ballet, an art gallery, museum), or is a stay-at home dad.
Wants to learn something new each day
Gives back either by volunteering or donating to a charity
Treats women with respect, but also expects to be treated with respect by HER. He believes it's a two-way street and will not be treated like a doormat.
^ And how does anything in that post not describe good women too? What in that post has anything to do with being a "man" at all?
In fact you list as a virtue "not conforming to gender stereotypes" yet your whole post is rife with them.
Where in what I posted is anything conforming to gender stereotypes? In fact, I listed being a stay-at home dad several times. This is about as far from a gender norm as you can get. Also, I never said these can't describe women. However, since I am a man I am writing it from my point of view, which is male.
"Real Man" is a buzzword used by feminist to shame men into subservient behavior
I can't say that I've ever heard a feminst use the term "real man." I can't imagine a feminist using it any more than they ever say "man up!" The feminists I've heard from consider it a term used by unreconstructed misogynists. Archie Bunker would say "real man."
Actually, I think "real man" is a term bromosexuals would use more than feminists.
The term 'real' men (or women) do such and such is used by someone with an indefensible position in an argument. Someone who uses the 'real' whatever is this, or that, is using and faulty tactic and thus that argument is irrelevant, so pay them no mind.
Where in what I posted is anything conforming to gender stereotypes?
As I said - All of it. Suggesting that any of this has anything to do with being a "man" at all. Nothing you listed has anything at all to do with being male. Every single thing you listed applies equally to women too. That is all the point was.
Its very telling that every post on a thread about "real men" list things that have nothing to do with men at all - but are all exactly applicable to women as to men.
