Love, mature love, is unconditional. It is loving a person just because they exist.

It is knowing that they may have faults, who doesn't, but those faults make them, them and you love them because of not inspite of the faults.

It is not loving them because they love you, it is loving them even if they didn't love you.

And we are not speaking of the obsessive, possessive feeling that many people mistake for love. That is not love that is...... obsession. Sort of a perversion of mature love.

Lillietta--
Love for children - totally unconditional - no one will ever love you like your parents love/d you. That is really true love - but we mostly apply it to our children.
I think Lillietta has it right. The real love is what we should have for our children.
Loving them no matter what, unconditionally, but it seems we rarely apply that to adults.
Adult love tends to come with LOTS of conditions. And it often fades quickly.

Where is DC? Don't make me call you out, it is against the ToS!

Asking about wedding rings, asking about what is love.

DC....are you in love? I am sorry, I had to get it out.....

But are you? Hmmm?

Although its been a few years and I salivate over the thought of homemade french onion soup with a cheese top and crusty bread on the side its more about what it means... if you catch my drift. I don't mind doing prep either... I'm a foodie at heart.

good question.

For some, the more you question, as you get older, the less- it makes sense.

It should be unconditional- caring about someone, a companion, a helper-

over time it is not just physical, but it can be ethereal. It can be more than anyone can verbalize....

Good luck to those of you still hoping for it. Some of us have to find it within. Our writing or vocation.

Love is what YOU think it is.

It's not called an "ineffable emotion" for nothing.
