I'll have to back her up. It has been my experience also that when women do ALL the "taking care of" most men begin to take it for granted and lose respect for you as a independent human being.
I am from the south and have lived most of my adult life conditioned to do the 'traditional" wifely duties, of course on top of working and bringing home a good income. So OP, just come on home. There is no shortage of the kind of man you seem to want. They will even let you be the breadwinner while they spend all day hanging out at the garage/pool hall/bar throwing back a few with their buddies until you get home to cook them supper. They will even pick you up from work (we call them go getters). Oh, don't tell them you are educated and well traveled because they will just see that as uppity and feel a need to put you in your place.
You know men could make simalar complaints about women.
So because you had a man that lost respect for you for that all men going to do that? You don't speak for all menand this op shows that if you don't do what women want your not a real man geez women grow up its not all about you.
No I didn't have a man who lost respect for me-
I was speaking of other people who I witnessed this happening to.
Especially in the South.
And, btw....I'm not a man.

Cute concept; doesn't last long-
he'll lose his respect for you if your only goal is to take care of him.
I'm speaking from experience.
Grown ups don't allow themselves to be totally dependent on somebody else.
So why did you say you were speaking from experience, oh you meant someone elses.
Id love to be a househusband. Cook, clean, and put when told? And she buys everything including gifts for me? Where do i sign? Best job ever
I have heard the same declaration from many men over the years but have yet to see any man actually choose to be a househusband. Its my understanding that they are an endangered species.

I know a few guys that do this. They are not guys you would expect to be househusbands.

I wouldn't be able to do it. I'd get bored.
