In the WW I movie "Zeppelin", Elke Sommer gives Michael York a photo album of relatives and friends that he might know to look at while she finishes getting ready.
Such a romantic, if archaic, approach.
But in this modern era, where, what do you leave your guest for entertainment while you are occupied elsewhere?
In the library with books?
With the music collection?
Do you condemn them with the TV or even, GOD FORBID, the computer?
Mainly I am just ready when they arrive. But if something comes up... I think that's the main reason I still have lots of books. I love looking over someone's bookcases -- such a great way to get to know them.
OP, what are you talking about? Why wouldn't someone expecting a guest be ready when s/he arrives? You are aware, aren't you, that the movies aren't real life? They're fantasy. They're storytelling. They're fiction, or if they're about a historical event, they usually have fictional embellishments. Furthermore, it's now 100 years later than WWI. Did you think we're all caught in a time warp?
