So... i was walking from my car to my apartment inn the city and i noticed a girl passing by so i tried to look like i was zoned out and not looking at her... out of the corner of my eye she looks at me briefly, fixes her hair and then when she walks past me i see her looking back (as if to see if i was following her? )
was it cause i creeped her out? if not; whats a good way to approach her without coming off too strong?
How exactly did she fix her hair? Did she move her hair from being in her face? Did she stop and get out the curling iron and mirror? Did she get out the blow dryer and round brush? Did she fix her headband?
I doubt that she was fixing her hair for you and the reason many women look back after they have passed a guy is to make sure he hasn't turned around and is now following her.
The next time a girl does whatever it is this girl did just say "Excuse me, why did you fix your hair and look back at me"?
That way you will know from the girl why she did what she did.
Hair might be on her eyes so she fix it, and look back to be sure the creepy guy not chasing her behind why did not you talk to her int the first place ? Hello miss how are ya?
"Fixing her hair"? Could be a flirty thing except you weren't even looking at her directly...more likely it was a nervous thing - some girls are constantly touching and flipping their hair...

Can't a woman fix her hair without some random guy thinking she's coming on to him? Jeez.
Honestly from your brief story, if you two are in a city, she was probably looking back to make sure you weren't following her in a predatory way. 99.98% of the time that's why I do things like that. I make eye contact because that's what we're told to do to establish we're aware of creepers following us around and to stand our ground in case they get pushy. Eye contact followed by a stern, "Not interested."
I don't understand the whole trying to look like you're in a zone thing...you don't have to pretend you don't notice a girl is pretty, we want you to notice us...if you can't learn to make eye contact, and to own your masculinity and the fact you find women attractive, you're going to have a much harder time. Make a point to make eye contact and smile with everyone you pass until it feels comfortable, then you'll be ready to approach girls.
