I had an ad there once and got bombarded with penis pictures.

They're more interested in catching the hookers than the guys soliciting them.
I put an ad out so I could find a sidekick for a pizza joint shop I had to do across town and I believe she was pregnant though her pic was of her sitting at a desk close enough to her webcam just right to hide it.
Thankfully, the purpose of that was just to have a warm body across the table from me so I could eat and get paid for my work. Didn't want to risk getting busted for ordering for two and only having myself on camera.
She tried to add me on FB a few years back (why? I dunno.) and I let that request stew for some time before I blocked her. I don't do shops for that company anymore, anyway.
At least on OKCupid or POF you can screen well and find some really good people. On craiglist you're just going to get scumbags trying to cheat on their husbands/wives, people looking for free drugs or just a flat out prostitute. No decent person is on there.
I've used CL to sell/get rid of things and find roommates (though with the latest one, I'm rethinking how to find them in the future) but when it comes to the personal ads, I only read those when I want to feel better about myself for being single.
I'd rather be single than married to someone who posts ads on CL saying he's bored with his wife and looking for something on the side, which is a decent percentage of those in my immediate area. Followed my men in their 40's and 50's who are looking for 18-22 year olds to play out daddy fantasies and men who want to meet for "lunch" at a cheap motel. There are probably are good people on there-I've seen a few ads saying they are trying CL because they are tired of all the fake/inactive profiles on OLD sites but there's way too much trash to wade through to try to find them.
I do know a couple who met on CL several years ago, but it wasn't through the personals. He was selling a lamp and she's the one who bought it from him. They've been married now for at least 6 years and have two kids. And my best friend would be married to an ex met on CL but in the end, they were on different sides of the issue of having children.
I think it depends on the area you live in....better be prepared to deal with a lot of spammers, escorts, and fakes.....I guess if you feel like being a diamond miner, there can be a reward if you pick through all the shat. It works if you are a couple looking for another female...
I implore you to get your out the house and meet actual people.
