I've known successful relationships that married after weeks...others took over a decade...and I've know unsuccessful ones in all time brackets as well.
i agree that there is no particular length of time to date before marriage. i have seen whirlwind romances that last a lifetime, and i have seen those that date for years then get married and then divorced within five years.
I answered 2 years but also think if you are over 40 I wouldn't marry someone without going through at least 4 seasons with them. Under 30 definitely 2 years.
