I just turned 40 two wks ago, but I still look & feel like a mid to late 20 something...however, definitely mature character-wise (I was mature back when I was actually in my 20s...never did anything crazy, anything I regret, etc.)

I'm not married yet (plan to be engaged probably this year), but I was just thinking, I've never been without a SO since I was 18. You're probably thinking that I must have had tons of SOs back-to-back. Actually, I've only had TWO (yes 2) SOs. I'm just the type who likes commitment & long-lasting relationships & when something works, I like to stick with it. I'm not saying that's good. That's just how things turned out in my life.

When I broke up (mutually) w/ SO #1 (without tears, no depressed period of being in a funk, etc.), I had already met SO #2, so we just started dating right after & have been together ever since.

Anyone else never really been alone/single their entire adult life? I assume my situation's very rare.

I have been single since the end of June. It has been the first time I was single for longer than a week in 24 years.

No.

Never had one.

But I know a quite a few people who have never been totally single since they were in their late teens.

Nope. That definitely ain't me. I am shy. So socializing is not a strong point.

My brother fits though. He met his ex fiance when he was in his early 20s. Then they break up just recently, he's 27 now, and he's talking to some other girl now, whom he was talking to behind his fiance's back. Lots of girls tend to like him. So I don't reckon he has issues finding any.

And ex friend of mine is moving that way. She got her 1st boyfriend at 19 or 20. Lost her virginity to him, and they have plans of marriage once they finish school and get their lives in order. Been together for around 4-6 years. I don't know exactly. Talk about lucky lol and I mean that in a good way

Then there's a friend of hers' who seemed to have quite a few boyfriends and some girlfriends I think.

Nope divorced. My daughters father died while I was pregnant with her. I married a friend right after to give my daughter a family. Clearly did not work out but we parted ways 8 years ago.

Well, for one you don't look like you're 20 something as most people say that nonsense, but they always look their age...., but that is another entry.

Some people have coupled up at young ages, others haven't........... just the way things work...

One of the the positives of coupling up early is that sometimes those people seem to have a little less baggage in the dating department... I could be wrong, but it makes a certain level of sense if you think about it... you can't go around getting your heart kicked in over and over and not get a little bitter.....

I DEFINITELY don't fit into this category (feeling like a forever alone female here) but I know of one guy who went straight from living at home in high school to marrying his high school sweet heart. So he's never lived on his own or been single as an adult. Actually i guess his wife would fit in that category too.
