I am a logical guy so I like to break it down to smaller parts to explain things. It helps with understanding of things.
Say there's 10 guys and 10 gals in a vacuum world trying an online dating website. Let's say there's a normal distribution of attractiveness. What that means is that most guys/gals are average attractiveness ( 4s, 5s, and 6s, with very few in other ends of the spectrum, 1s and 10s).
What will probably happen is that most guys will be messaging the gals.
The gals will *ignore* 8 of the guys who message them and respond to 2 of them.
*The reasons will range from: subpar pics, subpar profiles, subpar messages, creepy messages, creepy pictures, whatever the reason.
It most likely that the 2 guys getting replied back and probably getting replied back from most if not all 10 women. Because it is likely they are attractive, have great pictures, have great messages, whatever the reasons.
So...the 2 guys go on many dates with those women, some end up with sex, some don't. Whatever, they don't care because they are having fun.
The one's that do end up with sex, the guys eventually reveal that they don't want long term relationships. Why would they? They go easily go back online and chance it with a different woman another day!
1. So women get angry and rant all guys online are just players or creeps or losers.
2. And men get angry and rant that women just ignore them.
Would you agree with this?
*Note: I am not bashing OLD, I am simply stating the reality of it. I am fully aware of OLD's benefits and limitations. Of course, I sometimes use OLD when bored in real life, because I obviously know the best way to meet someone is real life.
OLD works for some average looking people. I could get dates no problem but it was too hard for me to be myself on a blind date. I couldn't open up for some reason..
I found out I do better getting outside and doing activities with a group of people. Inserting myself in their social circle and stuff. I originally thought OLD would be awesome for shy people like me, turns out its worse! Glad my dating days are over for now. Haha
You forgot that the guys will only message the hottest girls.
That's not true. My buddies fat wife said that when she was single, she would get about 10-12 messages a day on most sites, and I can personally attest to dramatically lowering my standards (like most men do) on dating sites. The ball is in their court with online dating. If the roles were reversed, I would probable get a swollen ego and be super choosy too.
Pretty much every guy I've ever talked to has said that they can pull better looking women in real life than they can on the Internet, and pretty much every girl I know has said the opposite (when being truthful)
The statistics say that men get blown off more in the messaging stage, but women get blown off more when it comes to the actual dating from these sites, which points to the notion that a lot of men like myself will message women good enough for sex, but not good enough for dating.
"lock up ur daughters because it's time to hit it and quit it"..............lol
