Well, OP, he certainly seems like the catch of a lifetime to be certain. *insert sarcasm here*
Only you can decide if you want to date and continue to be with a seemingly psychotic drug addicted liar. I know it's a difficult choice, but I'm sure you can manage if you really try.
Ummmmmm, he is smoking crystal meth out of an oil burner. If he is using a match, lighter or torch, I would bet my left testicle that it's meth that he is smoking. Synthetic tobacco to quit smoking is not really synthetic, but a liquid form of tobacco mixed with artificial flavors, and smoked with a personal vaporizer. It's also called a ecig, a vape, and is a way to quit smoking. A vape is battery run, and doesn't need a flame to use it.
Hi all,
My full question isn't quite so straight forward. My boyfriend has been very open to me about the fact that he used to use drugs, specifically smoking ice. Since we have been together, he has (supposedly) been clean and has also quit smoking. He has, however, used what he has told me is fake or synthetic tobacco to help him in the process of quitting cigarettes.
I am a little naive in this area as I have never smoked or used drugs myself. What I find hard to believe about his story, is that this "fake tobacco" doesn't look anything like tobacco. It is clear/milky and shaped in small crystals, just as I presume crystal meth must look. He smokes it in a crack pipe and it is odourless. It is always in tiny little clear bags. He once bought one of these bags for $50 from a "friend". As I write this, I feel like I am an idiot and my instincts tell me I am being taken for a ride.
I find it hard to believe that what I have just described to you is just artificial tobacco- why doesn't it look like tobacco? Why no packaging? Why the high price? His answer was that they sell it to him like that at a market, and then he makes me feel bad that I am questioning him about it.
For those who know, please tell me, is it plausible for fake tobacco to come in the form I have described? As I honestly don't know anything about such products myself, I feel I should give him the benefit of the doubt, and find out for sure, before I go accusing him any further. I had no idea where to turn to find out such information.
I sincerely appreciate any advice, thank you.
That is indeed ice, otherwise known as meth.
As a former user that has been clean for many years now, dump him before he takes you down with him.
Maybe that's because I've been looking up pictures on google to try and get an answer? Maybe socialised by the media, constantly reading about how ice has become such an epidemic in today's society? Either way, it's something I've always steered clear of and intend to continue to steer well clear of.
I said I was naive, not stupid.
In relation to being high, my boyfriend has schizo-affective disorder and so is often in a strange state because of the very strong medication he takes, so an altered state is not much for me to go on. Also, I read the affect it has on people can vary.
So he is using illegal drugs in addition to taking prescribed medication?
If you always intended to steer clear of these things why is there any question about your boyfriend?
You know he is using drugs and used to use drugs (in theory) yet you still call him your boyfriend.
Any other red flags you want to tell us about, OP???
I do not appreciate the mental illness stigma card being played. I did not ask advice about that, it was purely to indicate why it is not so easy for me to use behavioural changes as an indicator of illegal drug use.
My question is, 'does fake tobacco ever take that form'?
No judgement, just a simple answer.
From the responses so far, I'm guessing that my assumptions were correct and the answer is NO.
The idea about visiting the market is good, thank you. I might visit a tobacconist today and if their information corroborates with these answers, looks like I will be completing the not so fun task of ending a relationship.
