Has anyone watched this show on A&E? I watched it via Hulu but some content is also available via the A&E site. It's about couples meeting for the first time at the altar but experts have paired them up using "sophisticated" methods. It was quite intriguing.
The strange thing is that these couples could choose after 6 weeks if they want to stay married or get divorced so what kind of commitment is that and how is it different from dating?
Do you think something like this makes a mockery of the institution?
For Westerners, you love first before you marry - for most Easterners, the philosophy is that you marry first and develop an intimate relationship. You begin to understand each other and you grow.
Nowadays ~50% of all American marriages end in divorce. Therefore considering anarranged marriage maybe is not such a bad thing.
Maybe arranged marriages produce better relationships in the long run than do typical American marriages, in which people find each other on their own and romance is the foundation.
