I think that one of the first things people need to learn in order to get out of their adolescence adequately is that they need to get over themselves and realize that no one is looking at them and no one gives two craps about what they're doing or how silly they look or how their hair is or if they had a run in their stocking or any of that. You are not the center of the universe. Most people really don't care what you're doing or how you look or if you are a dork.

Frankly, I can't believe that you even care what a bunch of strangers from other countries that you will never see again think about you guys ice skating. I almost guarantee that no one is even going to look at you. They are all absorbed in their own little world probably wondering if you think they are big dorks because their camera strap doesn't match their lederhosen.

Being self conscious actually takes a whole lot of ego because you have to believe that other people really care what you're doing. They don't.

The male has not the slightest idea about this thread. And if he did, he would probably not care one way or the other.

The problem isn't if people are judging you or not, they most definitely are, the problem is people aren't confident and comfortable enough to care what others think. I honestly do not care what people think of me, but that doesn't mean they don't judge, they most certainly do.

Maybe one out of ten people is actually having a passing thought about you.
Maybe.
But why care what a stranger thinks?

That is a very good point, thank you.

Don't ever let what other people think ruin your joy or keep you from experiencing things.
You have one life to live AND a passing thought from someone who won't ever think about it again in their lives isn't worth missing out on fun.

I'm sure Lindsay Vonn has a lot to teach Tiger Woods about skiing, and he has a lot he can teach her about golf. Nothing wrong with that.

I’m not saying sports are bad, but being a man is not solely based on if you can ride a snowboard or a mountain bike.

I’ve also learned in the corporate environment that teamwork outside of a maybe a marriage is BS
Nor is it solely about being able to fix a toilet.

I disagree with your first sentence here, but your last question I do agree with.

No one should care, but they do because they are often judged by their peers. It's a process, but the end result should be to not care or feed the superficial segregation society paints.

It will take time, but you will soon see you are barely a passing thought to most people.
